Kyokushin Karate I – The Foundations of the Strongest Karate

The Foundations of the Strongest Karate

Dr. István Adámy, a direct student of Mas Oyama, teaches the foundations of Kyokushin karate step by step: etiquette, stances, techniques, kata, kumite and gradings.

VOLUME I – LEARN IT

Build your body and your technical arsenal!

Every path begins with the foundations.

The task of the first volume is to give a sure technical foundation for the practice of Kyokushin karate. It presents the stances, strikes, blocks and kicks, the basics of kihon, and the grading syllabus through which the karateka can build their knowledge step by step.

But basic technique does not mean merely learning movements.

Out of their own body, the karateka builds the “arsenal” that they will later be able to use precisely, quickly, powerfully and consciously.

So the first volume is the elementary school:
learning to stand, move, strike, kick and block – and beginning to master our own body.

→ Four books. One path.

About the book

This book is written above all for those starting karate: Dr. István Adámy's handbook of Kyokushin basics. It opens with a message Mas Oyama wrote for the original edition.

It takes the reader from the dojo kun and dojo etiquette through warm-up and breathing to 16 stances and 61 named strikes, kicks, blocks, throws and ground techniques, with photographs and mostly numbered steps. One kata is shown frame by frame. The grading requirements from white to black belt, the competition rules and a collection of Japanese terms complete it.
